LPU International Student organized Solo Painting Exhibition



One of the international students of Lovely Professional University Fabrice Kankolongo, who hails from Democratic Republic of Congo, organized Solo Painting Exhibition at Dr Satya Paul Art Gallery, Virsa Vihar, Jalandhar. Titled as ‘And Those Hidden Realities”, the exhibition presented his latest works of ‘mix-media, charcoal, acrylic, and collage on sheet. His artworks proved a boon for art lovers as it covered fertility, spirituality, grandeur, justice, destruction, imagination, reason, innocence, war horrors, terrorism, emotion, friendship, happiness, desolation, initiation, optimism and many more with diverse artistic techniques. LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal encouraged him to go ahead with his mission of bringing awakening among all through his art delineations.
Visitors to the exhibition appreciated the expressive beauty of his artistry. Student of Fine Arts Department at LPU, Fabrice tackled universal themes in which everyone can identify oneself in accordance. He is also a medal winner at national level competition organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), where his choice of colours which symbolize the best of sensations, problems, and emotions was appreciated. He also uses the symbolism and signs of nature for their universal meanings. Some of his works displayed were named as Red Moon, Red Lips, Impact, Look of Hope, Scream and more which aptly described his feelings.
Fabrice shares he wanted to pursue Law program but motivated by his mother who used to collect all his early childhood and school days’ sketches and drawings, he entered the realms of Fine Arts. He has also got education in interior architecture at LPU. Defining himself as a mixed media painter, Fabrice says: “My creative process and my main themes are inspired by my observation of nature, culture, politics, African as well as global society. No doubt, we live in one world full of turmoil and disharmony but everything seems to be interconnected here so my themes are universal in approach. For me life is a discovery, we just have to lift the lid to discover what is hidden and be full of joy.”

LPU LIFTED CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY OF AIU’S FIRST INTER UNIVERSITY NATIONAL QAWWALI COMPETITION

Lovely Professional University (LPU) witnessed successful culmination of epoch-making first ever inter university national qawwali competition organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. LPU team lifted the Championship Trophy along with cash prize of Rs 20,000. The event termed as ‘Afreen-Bazm-E-Qawwali’ carried the theme of ‘National Integration and Communal Harmony’. GNDU Amritsar was declared first runner-up and got cash prize of Rs 15,000; whereas, University of Mumbai & Chandigarh University shared second runner-up prize of Rs 10,000. The Chief Guest of the concluding day Mr Sampson David, AIU Joint Secretary of Cultural Affairs, gave away the prizes to the winners. The words of novel qawwali of LPU team are “Vatan Kaa Har Bashar Apna, Sabhi se dil milana hae”, which strongly indicate oneness and harmony among all human beings. University of Mumbai students qawwali for ” Aise Tirange ko sada dil me basaye rakhnaa” was also appreciated much by the audience.
Congratulating all the winners and encouraging other participants, Mr Sampson David said: “It does not matter who wins, the thing matters the most is participation. I am thankful to LPU for creating history by organizing such a competition which has revitalized the most popular form of Sufi music ‘Qawwali’-a 700 years old tradition.” He also informed that a sufi saint Amir Khusrau Dehlavi had fused together traditions of Indian, Turkish, Persian and Arabic music in the late 13th Century to create this art form ‘Qawwali’. LPU Director General Er HR Singla thanked all members of AIU and participating teams for reposing a faith in LPU for organization of this historic event.
All the participating managers, mentors, teachers, accompanists and the students from across India praised the wonderful organizing capacity and skills of LPU and wished to see more such thematic organizations every year. Judges of the event Dr Parveen Vashishth, Mr Jai Parkash, Mr Nirmal Raman, Mr Om Parkash, Mr Sayed Khan, Mr Babban Hyat were happy to appreciate LPU’s efforts in reorganizing the art form which was nearing a finishing line.

7th convocation : Lovely Professional University

Mauritius president Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, chaired two-phased 7th Convocation of Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Monday. She honoured PhD scholars and toppers of various LPU academic programs and delivered Convocation Address. During this ceremony, over 15000 distance education students, who passed their June 2016 examinations, also received post-graduate, graduate degrees and diplomas.
Mauritian president was also conferred upon honorary Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) degree of the University for her Work towards advancement of science, technology and in recognition of her services for the society. Before making Convocation address, Mauritian President Dr Ameenah expressed her condolences and sympathies to the family members of the persons died in recent train accident in India.

FILM FEST : LOVELY PROFESSIONAL UNIVERSITY

The film festival organised by the Bioscope Global Film Festival at Lovely Professional Universityhas got enormous response from the audience on the third day today.

It was not only students who watched the films today but outsiders, who managed to obtain free passes after registering online, were also came in large numbers to watch the flicks.
Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Alok Bharadwaj from the BGFF, said some of the shows remained fully jam-packed. People were basically interested in watching films of other languages and those films that were difficult to watch otherwise. Around 19 films, including the Hungarian film, ‘Liza, The Fox-Fairy’, were shown today.
Films like ‘Alif’, ‘Western Ghat’ and ‘Song of The River’ remained the centre of attraction.
Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Zaigham Imam, director of ‘Alif’, said his film was a part of the competition.
“It is about Muslim kids, who get education in Madrasa. In this narrative, a father wants his kid to be a doctor. He gets him admitted to a proper school instead of a Madrasa, which is opposed by the Muslim community,” he said.
He said interaction with the audience was followed by the screening of the film.

Knowledge to Go Place : LPU

Lovely Professional University is a university college and educational institution in Jalandhar Punjab , India. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and offers courses at the undergraduate, post graduate .
The AGM will be inaugurated by Prof Ved Prakash, Chairman, University Grants Commission on 23rd May, 2015 at 11.00 AM. Prof H M Desai, Vice Chancellor, Dharmsinh Desai University, President AIU will preside over the Meet. Prof. Furqan Qamar Secretary General, AIU will be the convener of the Meet. The Special Issue of the University News on ‘Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education in India’ edited by Dr S Rama Devi Pani will be released by Chief Guest on the occasion.
Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an apex Inter-University body of Higher Education in the Country, is organizing its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 23–25, 2015 at Lovely Professional University (Phagwara). This mega event of AIU is being attended by 200+ national & international players of higher education including Vice Chancellors, Officials of MHRD, Heads of apex agencies of higher education and more to exchange ideas and to gather consensus on policies and initiatives. Apart from the Inaugural Ceremony and the valedictory functions, the highlights marking the event are AIU Governing Council Meet, AIU General Body Meet, Business Session, Interface Session with Indian Higher Education Functionaries and an Interface Session with Foreign dignitaries.
The main highlights of the Meet are discussion on ‘Themes Indentified for the ‘New Education Policy’ and ‘National Initiatives on Skilling India’. A National Seminar on ‘Promotion of Excellence in Higher Education’ is also one of the tracks of the Meet, where discussions will be on ‘Quality Assurance for Excellence in Higher Education’, ‘Global Rankings’ and ‘Leveraging Technology in Higher Education’
